SEISMIC IMAGES MAIN DIRECTORY

My images are loosely organized into the following categories below. If you have a fast connection, you might just go to the "All Images" link. In what follows you will find images in a variety of formats. Since most of these images are adapted from my research or teaching or public lectures over the years, there is not any particular systematic organization to the style or depth of the images. But I hope they are of some use for you!
All Images!
All the images are given on one follow-up web page.
Seismic Raypaths Images
Seismic waves travel through the interior in a number of ways.  These images show a number of common and not so common paths.
Seismic Data Images
This page presents a number of images showing seismic data used to image Earth's interior.
Seismic Model Images
Here, by "model", I mean a result of some kind of analysis (forward or inverse modeling) of data. This includes seismic tomography.
Interpretation/depiction Images
Most research of inaccessible regions requires some speculative interpretation of data. These images also include some basic depictions of the interior.
Ultra-Low Velocity Zone Images
ULVZ's are super thin patches of muck right at the core-mantle boundary. These images show ULVZ data, depictions, and interpretations.
Seismic Anisotropy Images
In some situations, the propagation of seismic energy depends on the direction of travel relative to layering or crystal structure.
Waves and Wave Propagation Images
These images show seismic waves and how they travel through the interior. (Only a few images in here right now)
Seismology 101 Images
Most of these are from my Seismology 1 course, and are quite uneven in their representation of the course. Perhaps instructors will find them useful.
Please don't hesitate to drop me an email if there is a problem with an image. Thanks.

"AI"=Adobe Illustrator document. Here's an old quicky tutorial I wrote: PDF
"PSD"=Photoshop Document
"[PDF]"=PDF of related publication
Beware: the AI and PSD documents may be different vintages of the software
and were made on a PC. This may generate errors depending on the versions
of your software, and whether or not you are on a MAC or PC.
